The Second Vice President, Right Honourable Enock Kanzingeni Chihana, this evening led government officials at a church service at Lilongwe CCAP to honour the late Kestina Nyirongo, mother to Minister of Transport and Public Works, Honourable Jappie Mhango.
The memorial service brought together senior government officials, family, and members of the CCAP congregation who gathered to celebrate the life of Kestina Nyirongo.
According to the family, the late Mrs. Kestina Nyirongo died on Wednesday, 12 August 2026 in Lilongwe at the age of 86 after a long illness. Born in 1934, she was described by relatives as a pillar of faith and community in Rumphi.
The late Nyirongo will be laid to rest on Saturday at her home village Lura in Rumphi District.
Minister Mhango is expected to travel to Rumphi with family for the burial.
Government has since conveyed condolences to Hon. Mhango and the entire family during this difficult time.
