WORLD BANK FUNDS NEW CLASSROOMS AT MAHUWI PRIMARY SCHOOL UNDER CLIMATE RESILIENCE PROGRAM.

The World Bank is funding the construction of a new twin classroom block at Mahuwi Primary School in Rumphi as part of efforts to build climate-resilient education infrastructure in the district.

The four-month project under the Regional Climate Resilience Programme Cycle 2 was officially handed over on Wednesday. CK Construction has been contracted to undertake the works.

Speaking during the handover, Minister of Transport and Public Works Jappie Mhango said government expects durable infrastructure delivered on time, and warned contractors against substandard work and delays that waste public resources.

Rumphi District Commissioner Thomas Chigwenembe assured the public that the council will closely monitor the project to ensure quality and durability.

In his remarks, Village Headman Gezamchere welcomed the intervention, saying the new classrooms will address acute congestion at Mahuwi Primary School where learners have been studying in overcrowded conditions.
