First Vice-President of the Republic of Malawi and founder of the Dr. Jane Ansah Foundation, Dr. Jane Ansah, on Thursday hosted a luncheon for people living with dwarfism, albinism and disabilities at Rumphi TTC Hall in Rumphi District.
This was on her way from Kanyerere where she earlier donated agricultural inputs.The event brought together people from all districts in the northern region and forms part of the foundation’s outreach initiatives aimed at supporting marginalized communities across the country.
In her speech, the First Vice-President Dr. Jane Ansah said the luncheon was aimed at promoting inclusion, solidarity and awareness of the challenges faced by vulnerable people and those living with various disabilities.She further called on the public to work hand in hand to support people living with disabilities so that they can develop and achieve self-reliance.
The foundation’s Executive Director, Yusuf Nthenda, explained that the Foundation was established in 2010. It started working closely with people with albinism in Lilongwe, and has since expanded its outreach to other districts. The foundation now also supports young people pursuing technical and vocational skills such as welding, plumbing, video production and tailoring.
